A Lovely September Stroll

Once again, another day that does not feel like a typical seasonal day in Toronto. Hot, with a strong southerly breeze. Not great for most of the city, but wonderfully refreshing near Lake Ontario, where the breezes were cooled slightly in their passage over the water.

So, of course, a walk to the Harbourfront of downtown Toronto was in order! We strolled leisurely through city streets and old parks, through the St. Lawrence Market area, and down to the Lake. Come join us on our little walk, with lots of flower detours!

These photos take us through the St. Lawrence Market area, and down to the east end of Toronto Harbour, with a bit of a visual detour for some of the aircraft turning above us, for the Toronto Air Show, going on through Monday.

More pics for part two, tomorrow!

A Certain Ethereal Quality

I love it when the light is just so. I don't mean at the Magic Hour, that time an hour or so after sunrise and the same before sunset, when the light is golden and everything takes on such a rich hue. Love that, but that's not what I'm talking about it. This effect that I'm talking about those moments when the the light filters through leaves or flowers (or hair, for that matter) in that lovely, diffuse way that gives the subject an other-worldly glow. It's almost surreal.

Those are the moments that I'm glad when my camera is nearby! Light makes or breaks the photo, and when the light is just right... it's MAGIC!
